Philippine Public Holidays 2012.

In Philippines holidays are celebrated with devotion and affection. There are two types of Philippine Holidays; regular holidays and special holidays. The regular holidays are always celebrated throughout the country. Special holidays are celebrated on the request of Head of the State. These holidays are a key part of culture of this beautiful island nation. People belonging to different ethnicity and religion live in Philippine; this diversity can be seen in their festivals and holidays

Following is the list of Philippine public holidays in 2012

Regular Philippine Holidays:

New Year’s Day: Jan 1.

This day is celebrated on 1st January to welcome the arrival of New Year. This day is widely celebrated throughout Philippines.

Maunday Thursday: April 5.

This is one of the four holidays of Mahal na Araw(Holy Week). This day is celebrated in the memory of last supper of Jesus with his Apostles. This holiday will come on 5th April in 2012.

Good Friday: April 6.

This day will be celebrated on April-06-2012. It commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Day of Valor: April 9.

Celebrated on 9th April every year, this day is celebrated in the memory of Filipino and American soldiers who fought bravely against Japan in World War II.

Labour Day: May 1.

This day is celebrated to appreciate the social and economic struggle of workers and labourers.

Independence Day: June 12.

June 12th 1898 is the day on which Philippine got its independence. This day is widely celebrated.

Eid ul Fitr: Aug 18.

This day celebrates the ending of holy month of Ramadan and 1st day of Shawwal.

National Hero’s Day: Aug 27.

This day commemorates the efforts of all the National Heroes.

Bonifacio Day: Nov 30.

This is the day to celebrate the birth of national hero Andres Bonifacio.

Christmas Day: Dec 25.

This is the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Rizal Day: Dec 30.

This holiday is in the honour of national hero Jose Rizal on 30th December 1896.

23rd January 2012, Chinese New Year
25th February, People Power Revolution Anniversary.
2nd November, All Saint’s and All Soul’s Day.
31st December, New Year Eve.
