Hong Kong will play host to an exhilarating extravaganza of excellent wines and gourmet enchantment at the 4th ‘Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival 2012′. The event, a major tourist attraction, will be held from 27-30 October 2012 at West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade. There are many interesting sports but when it gets to motorcycle racing the best and the most watched is the MotoGP. The MotoGP is the oldest championship that involves motorcycle racing. The first MotoGP world championship event happened in 1949. During its early years (1950s), Italian riders dominated the motorcycle Grand Prix. By 1959, the sport witnessed the introduction of Japanese models. Today, Japan is a major player in this sporting event. Japan will host the fifteenth leg of the 2012 global motorsport event. The Malaysian motorcycle Grand Prix is an exhilarating event for every Grand Prix fan. Part of the Grand Prix racing season, the Malaysian international motorcycle racing event has continued to entertain people for two decades now. The Shah Alam circuit hosted the first Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix in 1991. However, the event was moved to the Johor circuit after 6 years and then finally, the Sepang International Circuit took over the services and has been successful in hosting the Motorcycle Grand Prix season’s Malaysian event since 1999.
Located next to the capital of Malaysia, the circuit has successfully gained rapid reputation since its construction. The Malaysian Grand Prix has always been a brilliant event for every Grand Prix enthusiast and continues to attract fans from around the world every year. (more…)

Anticipation of the 2012 Dragon Boat Festival is in the air. This year, the Chinese lunar calendar points to June 23rd as the fifth day and fifth moon. Chu Yuan (Qu Yuan), a masterful Chinese historical poet committed suicide by drowning in the Milo River on that particular day over 2000 years ago and has been remembered and honoured with this tribute ever since. The period of celebration is extended by including both the day before and the day after as holidays.
Chu Yuan was the Prime Minister of Chu when King Huai was expanding the boundaries of his kingdom in a war with six other states. Chu Yuan was seen as a disloyal traitor in the way he was portrayed by Zi Lan, an aristocrat of the time. In the midst of accusations that he didn’t agree with the use of force for the purpose of acquiring new territory, he was permanently exiled. Yet, he ultimately chose to die rather than live to see his beloved country occupied by opposing forces. (more…)

Hi Seoul Festival is considered a very brilliant event that showcases parades, drama performances, food fairs, traditional ceremonies and several light shows. Seoul, which is officially called the Seoul Special City, is known to be the largest city and capital of South Korea. It is a megacity city, which has an estimated population of 10 million.
Seoul has different selections of festivals every year. This year, they will celebrate their own spring festival which starts in the month of May. Laos Public Holidays 2012 include all of the holidays that are recognised by the national government and are days that most workers have off. There are however, additional days that are recognised by regional and municipal governments. There are also religious holidays that certain people will observe, but are not recognised as national holidays. Certain banks and private institutions may also observe selective holidays not recognised by the Laos national Government.
Official Laos Holidays for 2012 are as follows:
Jan. 2: International New Year’s Day.
This is the first day of the new year on the International calendar. Normally observed on January 1, the second day of the year is substituted as the holiday as January 1st falls on a Sunday.
Mar. 8: International Women’s Day.
This day is recognized by most nations of the world and is set aside to honour the contributions and importance of women in society and the world.
Apr. 13, 16,17: Pi Mai.
This is the Lao New Year and is the most important and popular holiday in the country. It lasts for three days. Because the second and third day falls on the weekend, Pi Mai will be observed on Friday and then Monday and Tuesday.
May 2: International Labour Day.
Often called May Day in the United States, this is simply to honour labour throughout the world. Most nations celebrate this day. Normally observed on May 1st, in 2012 it falls on a Sunday, so it will be Monday the second that the holiday is observed.
Jun. 1: Children’s Day.
This day is set aside to honour children and speak up for their rights and living conditions. This day is celebrated at various times of the year, but it is June 1st that is the universal date of observance as well as the date for the nation of Laos.
Dec. 3: Lao National Day.
Normally celebrated on December 2nd, this year it falls on a Sunday, so Monday the 3rd is substituted. This is the day the People’s Democratic Republic of Laos was established in 1975.
2012 Pha That Luang Festival
2Pha That Luang Festival, Vientiane Laos
This religious festival occurs in the city of Vientiane in Laos. The event happens every year at around the beginning November at the sighting of the full moon for three consecutive days.
The festival, a tribute to the Buddha occurs at the Golden Stupa. The Golden Stupa is a tall temple towering at over forty meters high. It is an iconic national and religious building and it is believed that the ashes of the Buddha were laid here. (more…)
